Spend a couple of hours at the Grand Palace & Wat Prakeaw the join the bustle on Khao San Road.
3 Take a ferry down the Chao Phraya river past Wat Arun to Wat Pho (Pier N8 – Tha Tien) which contains the gigantic reclining Buddha. You can find Chao Phraya ferry information on this site.
4 🚄Bangkok to Chiang Mai (Book >) Dep: 18:10 🏨Train(Book >)
Relax on a river and canal cruise to the Damnoen Saduak floating market. Admire the silk art and teak houses at Jim Thompson’s House. Book your train ticket in advance if you want to guarantee the class in which you travel.

Travel out to Doi Suthep and visit Wat Phra That Doi Suthep as well as the surrounding national park if you’ve time. Back in the city check out the temples Wat Chedi Luang, Wat Phra Singh and Wat Phan Tao. If you’ve still got time then see the 8th century city of Wiang Kum Kam. Dress conservatively when visiting temples.
6-7 Embark on a trek through Huay Nam Dung National Park and meet the Karen hill tribes inhabiting this area. Remember to bring insect repellent.

At the end of your trek enjoy a bamboo rafting trip along the Mae Tang River then return to Chiang Mai. Stay in Phuket or journey out to one of the beautiful islands (we recommend the Six Senses hotel on Phang Nga).

If you’re travelling between April and August then the weather will be better on the East Coast – fly to Ko Samui instead.
