Use the morning to get to any sights in Venice that you may have missed, then in the afternoon visit Juliet’s balcony in Verona, as well as the Piazza delle Erbe, Castelvecchio and Torre dei Lamberti. In the evening take your seat at the famous arena – the cheapest tickets are on the stone steps but on a first-come-first-served basis. Be aware that you may need to bring along warm clothing to the open-air Verona Arena. Take something to sit on too – the stone steps aren’t comfortable!

Luxury Boston, USA
1 ✈To Boston (Book >) Dep: Afternoon Arr: Evening 🏨Inter-Continental Boston (Book >) All hotels >
Best way to beat jetlag? Have a quick stroll in the city centre – the Theatre District is always buzzing. Arrange a transfer from the airport.
2 Take a walking tour of the Freedom Trail, browse Quincy Market, see the daily re-enactment of the Boston Tea Party. Into beer? The Sam Adams brewery tour is a must, just as Fenway Park is for sports fans. If you’re eligible for an ESTA visa waiver you can apply for one here.
3 See the New England coast on a day trip that takes in seaside villages, historic Kennebunkport and Cape Neddick Lighthouse. Newbury Street is where the locals hang out in Boston and is home to boutique shops and great restaurants.
4 🚄Boston South to New York (Grand Central) train (Book >) Dep: 09:30 Arr: 14:30 🏨The Pierre (Book >) All hotels >
What a way to arrive! Grand Central Station is a sight to behold, once you’ve taken it in leave your bags at the hotel and start your sightseeing. Book theatre tickets in advance.
5 My top 6 things to do in NYC are:
1. Stroll through Central Park (no need to go north of the reservoir)
2. Walk across Brooklyn Bridge
3. Take a return trip on the free Staten Island ferry
4. Visit MOMA
5. Go up the One World Observatory
6. Walk the length of the High Line (one of my favourite parts of this Eastern USA itinerary!)
Chelsea Market is towards the start/end of the High Line and is a superb place to get lunch.
6 What else to do? Take a boat trip to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, walk through the Financial District to South Street Seaport, visit the Museum of Natural History. If you’ve time then Brooklyn and Williamsburg are also exciting neighbourhoods.
7 🚄New York (Penn) to Philadelphia train (Book >) Dep: 14:15 Arr: 15:55 🏨The Rittenhouse (Book >) All hotels >
More time this morning to soak up the NYC sights. In Philadelphia plan day 8 with a visit to the Independence Visitor Center. The Philly PHLASH is a good (and cheap) way to get between the sights.
8 Spend most of today looking at the many historic sights in Independence National Historical Park. Find lunch at the famous Reading Terminal Market. If you’ve time journey out to Valley Forge National Historical Park.
9 🚄Philadelphia to Washington DC  train (Book >) Dep: 10:12 Arr: 12:01 🏨Four Seasons (Book >) All hotels >

10 The National Gallery of Art is one of the world’s best art museums and the National Museum of American History is also well worth a visit. Have a relaxing stroll around the Jefferson Memorial. Georgetown Historic District dates back to the early 1700s and is easy to get to. Decide what you want to see before setting out – you could spend months exploring the various attractions that DC has to offer.
